Classic Range Wines
The Wines of the Classic Range are made since 1989, the year that Bodegas Vicente Malumbres started bottling their Wines. They are the Wines of the classic categories: Blanco, Rosado, Tinto Joven (with no ageing in barrel), Crianza, Reserva and also Chardonnay Barrel Fermented. All of these Wines are at least 80% local varieties ( Garnacha, Graciano, Tempranillo,Vidao) and therefore a maximum 20% foreign varieties. The 20% foreign varieties is a complement enrichening the Wines but not dominating the Wines for which the character is from the local grapes. Last classic Wine is Malumbres Chardonnay Barrel Fermented which is our unique Wine made from a foreign variety.

Malumbres Blanco:
In Bodegas Vicente Malumbres only White Wines are more than 20% foreign varieties: they are 100% Chardonnay. The reason to use Chardonnay is its potential which permits obtaining richer Wines than by using the local grape. Malumbres Blanco is intense and complex in aromas, dense on the palate, with a good structure, fresh and persistent. |
Malumbres Chardonnay Barrel Fermented:
The first Chardonnay Barrel Fermented of Bodegas Vicente Malumbres was made in 1996. Nine years later, this is a style of Wine with a much smaller demand and our production has been reduced to very small quantities. Concept: Wine which firstly shows aromas from the variety and nuances of fruits and secondly shows vanilla and other notes from the oak. On the palate it is big and tasty with a nice touch of oak which adds complexity. Fermentation in tanks of 3,150 liters from oak, French and American.

Malumbres Rosado:
Quality of Rosado is determined by the quality of the grapes. For it, it is necessary picking the grapes on the ideal dates and making an strict selection of grapes. Concept: attractive colour, intensity and richness of aromas, freshness and fruit. Best drinking during the next year to the vintage. |
Malumbres Tinto Joven:
The quality of the Tinto Joven is an important question for Bodegas Vicente Malumbres. It is our objective that all our Wines are of the maximum quality but not only the most complex Wines. On the other hand our sales of Tinto Joven are about 50% of the total sales (in number of bottles). Therefore, it is clear that we put an eye on all details in order to obtain the maximum quality for our Tinto Joven. Concept: our objective is that the Wine is in the shops a few months after vintage, about April following to the vintage, for which it will be a Wine easy drinking and pleasant in a short period of time but the second condition is it will be optimal for drinking at least during the two following years to its vintage. Style: intense and deeply fruity aromas, fresh, fruit on the palate, good structure and balance. |
Malumbres Crianza:
It is one of the best sellers in Bodegas Vicente Malumbres. Garnacha and Tempranillo are the base of this Wine, changing the proportion of each of the two varieties from year to year and being all years the blend of the two grapes at least 80%. We complement with a maximum 20% of foreign varieties. Malumbres Crianza is a complex Wine with a good assembly and a good balance of fruit and oak. Malumbres Crianza is relased after one year in barrel and no less than one year in the bottle and some vintages can remain in the Bodega about 2 years after bottling before being released. The objective is that Wines reach the Consumer when they have reached their peak. It would be nonsense to make all efforts to obtain the highest quality and afterwards releasing early or on the other hand selling too late. |
Malumbres Reserva:
Same premises of work as with the Crianza. Malumbres Reserva is aged in barrel 12-18 months and after bottling remains in the Bodega at least 24 months. A more powerful and intense Wine than the Crianza but also complex and with a good assembly and balance of fruit and oak.

Range of Special Wines
The Special Wines of Bodegas Vicente Malumbres are Vinos de Finca that is Wines from a single vineyard, the best expression of our vineyards and with a local character because they are made form local varieties exclusively. The decision of making these Special Wines was taken after proofs during years during which we learnt the potential of our vineyards and of the Wines. It is Wines produced in small quantities. Bodegas Vicente Malumbres require that all their Wines are on a certain level of quality and below that label Wines are not released. It is the same requirement of quality to the Wines of the Classic Range and to the Special Range. The concept behind each of the Special Wines are detailed as follows.
Malumbres Criado en Roble:
A Wine from only local varieties, mainly Garnacha, which remains in the barrel maximum 6 months. First vintage of Tinto Criado en Roble in Bodegas Vicente Malumbres was 2001. The decision of making this Wine, which is in the middle point between Tinto Joven (a Wine with no time in barrel) and the Crianza (12 months in barrel) was the increasing demand for a Wine with very good and dominating fruit with a light touch of oak. |
Malumbres Garnacha Crianza:
Garnacha is a very important variety for Bodegas Vicente Malumbres because permits obtaining a distinctive Wine and because it represents about 50% our production. The yields of our vineyards of Garnacha are very low and our Garnacha grapes reunites all conditions for a perfect ageing in the barrel. For it we decided making a Crianza 100% Garnacha. In a vertical tasting of our Garnacha Crianzas in April 2005, our first vintages,1995 and 1996, showed to be fresh and fruity. |
Malumbres Graciano:
Graciano is a variety which represents less than 0.5% total surface of vineyards in Navarra. Our experience during the nineties with Graciano as a variety to complement our other grapes was very positive for which we went ahead and in 1996 we made Malumbres Graciano y Cabernet Sauvignon Crianza 1996, 50% each variety, and the next step was Crianza 100 % Graciano in the vintages of 2000 and 2001. We are very satisfied with our Graciano Wines and in a vertical tasting in April 2005 we found the Graciano and Cabernet 1996 to remain powerful, fresh and fruity and exactly the same as the Crianzas of 2000 and 2001. |
Malumbres Primeros Viñedos:
Primeros Viñedos is made from grapes from all our oldest vineyards planted from 1940 to 1960. It is very small vineyards, Ontinar, Güio, Balbine, Canteruelas from 0.4 to 1.2 hectares with productions between 10 and 12 hectolitres per hectare. All of them are Garnacha. The first vintage of Primeros Viñedos was the blend 1998 and 1999. The foundation for Primeros Viñedos was the excellent vintages of Malumbres Garnacha Crianza of the years 1995, 1996 and 1998. The high level of quality of these three Wines and their fantastic evolution motivated us to make an even bigger selection of grapes and looking for a Wine of higher quality. The result was Malumbres Primeros Viñedos. Primeros Viñedos means First Vineyards and the term first is taken in a double sense: first as the oldest and first as highest quality. For Primeros Viñedos we take the same principles of work as for all our other Wines: big care in all the phases of the winemaking but quality and concentration of grapes is higher than for the other Wines. |
